Volunteer Information

Our volunteer needs are as varied as the talents of the parents and guardians of Timberview Band students! Time and energy commitment levels vary as well. If you are wondering if you can help, the answer is a resounding “Yes!” Here are a few (but not all) of our most common volunteer needs:

Chaperones: Ride the bus and accompany the band on trips to events (most often these are football games and competitions). Ensure student safety and organization. Assist as needed during events.

Pit Crew: Load, unload, and move instruments and equipment. Assist with set-up and tear-down at events.

Hospitality: Assist with food prep, serving, setup and take down for various band events. Serve snacks and meals to students during practices and events.

Fundraising: Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising activities. Help with spiritwear and other merchandise sales at events.

Class A (CDL) Drivers: Drive the band truck (an 18-wheeler) to and from events. Ensure the safe and timely transport of band equipment.

Box Truck Drivers: Safely transport band equipment to and from games, competitions, and practices.

Hair and Makeup: Assist students with makeup and hair styling before performances.

Sign up on CutTime to volunteer for roles at upcoming football games and competitions and give permission for an MISD background check (required for all volunteers). Join us in making this season a success!

IMPORTANT: A parent and/or student can work off $100 of the band activity fee by volunteering your time to various band activities. The band awards points based on your volunteer efforts.

Here’s how points are earned:

  • 1 point per game or event for Chaperones and Pit Crew.
  • 1 point per shift for Hospitality.
  • 1 point per shift for volunteering at the MISD UIL Marching Contest or other events held at THS.
  • 3 points per competition for Chaperones and Pit Crew if you are present for the entirety of the event’s needs (e.g. both prelims and finals at a competition).
  • Additional CDL Diver Incentive: If you hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and complete driving
for 8 or more events, your student will receive a $200.00 credit toward their band fees.

15 points must be earned between June 2025 and May 2026 to earn the $100 credit.

Why Your Volunteer Support is Essential

Behind every successful band is strong volunteer support. It’s that simple.

Volunteers serve an essential role in the Timberview Marching Band, providing much-needed assistance and support to ensure that students are free focus on their performances and fully participate in the life-shaping marching arts experience.

Show that you believe the arts are important and should be supported, and that parent involvement is vital to student success. In turn, you’ll get an up-close view of the hard work of our talented students and have the satisfaction of knowing that you have contributed to their success!

Volunteer opportunities for specific events will be posted in CutTime and on the Band app. (Questions? Email Ms. Gloria Cruz at chaperones@timberviewband.com.)
